Texas Custom Holsters Releases New Vehicle Mount Holster With Spare Magazine Holder
Texas Custom Holsters Releases New Vehicle Mount Holster With Spare Magazine Holder
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 04, 2011
Over the last two years Texas Custom Holsters has received numerous inquiries about adding a spare magazine holder to their already popular vehicle mountable holster design. Through use of it’s proprietary mounting system, Texas Custom Holsters is proud to offer a solution that nobody else has. A solution that remained hidden for years is now finally publicly available, and will be installed on all new holsters.
Spare clip holders on all holsters are rare, be they IWB, concealment holsters, mountable holsters, or otherwise. This is mostly because magazines are bulky, making the placement of the magazine difficult. Should the magazine be placed on top of the holster, behind, in front, underneath? No matter the placement, a spare clip adds weight and bulk. Neither are appealing for the end result.
This posed a serious challenge to Texas Custom Holsters, unwilling to compromise the product and experience that one expects when they draw their firearm. Texas Custom Holsters maintains that those two things are the most important features of their vehicle mount holster. One must be able to quickly and effortlessly draw their firearm, and must have confidence in the holster to be mounted securely and to hold the gun correctly. While a spare clip is nice in this situation, its presence cannot detract from the holster’s functionality and draw experience.
The ultimate solution involves tucking the magazine holder behind the mounted holster. The proprietary mount engineered by Texas Custom Holsters creates space behind the firearm for your hand to reach effortlessly around the grip and draw. After poring over the mount, looking at it from every angle, and performing many trial runs, Texas Custom Holsters found a location and angle in that space that holds the clip and does not detract from the room required for your hand to be able to draw. This creates a balance in the holster without adding additional bulk or requiring additional room. Everyone may now carry a second clip right there with their gun.
“This is the perfect uncompromising addition to our holster design” says Kevin Amerson, engineer for Texas Custom Holsters. “It is the first major modification that we have made since finalizing the holster mount in 2008.” It is also a modification driven by customer requests. i am from the states, but i am fairly sure Canadian airsoft laws dictate that the guns need to have clear bodies and there is an fps limit, if it follows all of the laws, there should’t be any problems.

Nelson?s Custom Guns Solves International Hunters Problems Meeting Airport Security Traveling Requirements
Nelson’s Custom Guns Solves International Hunters Problems Meeting Airport Security Traveling Requirements
Portland, OR (PRWEB) July 15, 2011
With the increased airport security measures these days, more and more traveling hunters are looking for more easily transported firearms. Of course the classic double rifle is very portable; however, many hunters either can’t afford to travel with an expensive double or just prefer a bolt action rifle for their international hunting. “A client came to me looking for a strong, accurate bolt action rifle built on his favorite Winchester pre-64 Model 70 action, explained Steve Nelson of Nelson’s Custom Guns. “What the client needed was a rifle that would be easier to transport than the traditional full-length bolt rifle and did not trust his fine double rifle to the dangers of international airline travel.” Nelson opted to make the barreled action removable from the stock. For want of a better term, Steve calls this a “barreled action take-down.” This system allowed for a case length of 34″ which fit well within his traveling requirements.
This technique was not chosen to save money; it was specified that the barrel be machined from an oversized blank to include an integral quarter rib. Although the client didn’t specify it, Nelson decided the quarter rib had to be very obviously integral with no chance anyone would suspect it was soldered to the barrel. To achieve that look Steve started with a PacNor 1.3″ diameter blank and machined the quarter rib with a radius where it meets the round barrel. Nelson did opt to add the sling swivel base as a separate piece to save time and get the project done on schedule. Also a little differently, the client chose to have this rifle chambered for the .375 Ruger cartridge rather than the H&H version. After several field test it showed that outstanding velocities and wonderful accuracy out of this cartridge, significantly higher than normal .375 H & H performance.
Since this client likes a low-as-possible scope mounting, Nelson chose to use the tried and proven Griffin & Howe side mount. This also allowed the use of two different scopes, one the Leupold 1″ diameter VX-3, 1.5-5X and the other the 30mm, VX-7 with illuminated reticle. Both scopes ride next to the rifle in the aluminum airline case.
In order to accomplish the take-down feature with a close return to battery after repeated disassembly/reassembly cycles, Nelson pillar bedded the action with a skin close but still easily removed fit into the stock. To further assure the stability of the rifle, a blank of Bastogne walnut which had been aging in Nelson’s wood closet for 10+ years. Actually the original owner of the blank had held it over 10 years planning some day to use it for a special project. “It took some serious persuading to get him to part with it!” Nelson said. Because the client lives near Nelson’s shop, they were able to make up a pattern stock to assure the rifle would fit the shooter perfectly. Nelson then machined that pattern into the final blank using his stock duplicator. After inletting the metal for a close-but-not-too-close fit, Nelson thoroughly sealed the interior and applied multiple coats of tung oil finish to the outside. Finished off with a good rub down, the wood grain and fiddle-back show through with a warm glow. The 24 line-per-inch point pattern checkering gives just the right gripping surface and the open grip design helps the rifle point like a fine shotgun.
The only metal decoration is the checkered and engraved bolt knob and the finely stippled surface on the top of the quarter rib. The whole of the metalwork was polished to a 320 grit level and slow rust blued to match the warmth of the stock finish. In order to maintain the classic “African Rifle” character of the project, Nelson did add two – recoil bolts in front and in back of the magazine well in keeping with the traditional “big game rifle” look. http://www.acgg.org/find/stephen-nelson
Nelson’s system of having the barreled action removable from the stock allows for a case length of 34” which fits within the traveling requirements and solves future problems for International hunters.
Following his usual practice, Steve had this rifle included in the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG) Hallmark Program. The ACGG Historian keeps a record of all details of the guns in this program so future owners can verify the authenticity of their gun. The Finest Quality Custom Firearms on Display at the Firearms Engravers & Gunmakers Exhibition – Reno, Nevada January 25-27, 2008
The Finest Quality Custom Firearms on Display at the Firearms Engravers & Gunmakers Exhibition – Reno, Nevada January 25-27, 2008
Cody, WY (PRWEB) November 16, 2007
One of the highlights of this year’s show will be the “North American Classic Hunting Rifle.” The concept for this magnificent hunting rifle began five years ago during the 2002 exhibition in Reno, NV. The team of Ralf Martini and Martin Hagn collaborated with engraver Marty Rabeno and built this classic .300 Winchester Mag. rifle in tribute to the great struggle of life and death in the wild. Engraving in fine line gold inlay on the tiggerguard commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG).
Current ACGG President Al Lind commented, “The American Custom Gunmakers Guild was formed in 1983 to exchange ideas, techniques and promote public awareness of the exquisite craft in gunmaking. The raffle of ‘The North American Classic Hunting Rifle’ allows someone a chance to own a custom firearm that might not be able to afford to have one commissioned.”
In 1985 the ACGG and the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA) decided to join efforts and present a venue to showcase the work of their memberships. FEGA President Rex Pedersen eloquently states, “A perfect marriage between metal and wood.”
The Firearms Engravers Guild of America was formed in 1981; currently they have 500 members worldwide. The FEGA’s purpose as an organization is to create unity among engravers, share ideas and allow those who have an interest in engraving an opportunity to meet with some of the best engravers in the world. There will be several seminars put on by FEGA on Monday January 28th. Both Guilds will present seminars on Monday, January 28th on various technical topics.
The exhibition is the only time where the public can enjoy the finest quality in custom rifles, handguns and shotguns made and engraved by America’s leading individual craftsmen. Members of the Firearms Engravers Guild and the American Custom Gunmakers Guild will exhibit their latest creations at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, NV. Hours for the exhibition are Friday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
