Can I mount a bi-pod or picittinny rail on a Gamo Viper air rifle?

Question by : Can I mount a bi-pod or picittinny rail on a Gamo Viper air rifle?
I want to put a bi-pod on my Gamo Viper. Is there ANY way I could do that.

P.S The Gamo Viper has a bull barrel, and to my knowledge it is 24 mm in diameter.

Answer by sporad1c
Every bi-pod I’ve ever seen mounts onto a sling swivel stud. On a break barrel rifle like the viper you would have to put a sling swivel stud closer to the trigger than you normally would since it has a channel in the stock the barrel folds into. Otherwise I see no reason why you couldn’t mount a bi-bod on a Viper.

Gamo CFX Pellet Rifle

This video is a demonstration of the Gamo CFX Pellet rifle. This rifle is capable of firing pellets at over 1000 fps. It is an excellent varmint hunter for keeping your grounds free of those pests, or, if you prefer, for squirrel and bird hunting. Equipped with a scope, a light and a laser, you can hunt into the dark hours when many pests are active. Excuse my shirt sleeve, which obscures the most important part of the video, but I still think you will get the point of the rifle. Soon, I hope to have a video showing the rifle’s capabilities in the dusk till dark hours.

where can i get open sights for a Gamo Recon?

Question by bassman12: where can i get open sights for a Gamo Recon?
i just purchased a gamo recon to kill rabbits from eating my carrots in my garden. i am not good with the scope, so does anyone know where i can get open sights for this gun. it has a fluted bull barrel on it and i cant find any.

Pyramid Air has target iron sights (1), but I imagine you’d have to have your Gamo Recon modified by an airgun smith to install them since it isn’t designed for iron sights. You’d probably have more luck spending some time zeroing the included scope in.(2) Since all you have to do with a scope is put the cross-hairs on what you want to hit and pull the trigger, if you’re not getting good results its likely that either the scope is not adjusted to put the cross-hairs on the guns point of aim or that its not broken in yet (some of the reviews for the Recon said it takes quite a few shots before it settles down and really starts to group consistently). If you follow the instructions in the second link, you should be able to rectify the problem with a solid rest, a little time, a few pellets and some patience if its just the scope that needs to be adjusted.

I hate to do this, but as a side note, the Gamo Recon really isn’t powerful enough to hunt rabbit. At best it delivers 4.8-4.9 ft-lbs of muzzle energy (7.9-8 grain pellet at 525 fps). Odds are its probably a bit less since I’ve seen at least one review which says it gets 510-515 fps with 7.9 grain pellets.(3) Tom Gaylord’s review is less optimistic with the Recon consistently getting between 3-4 ft-lbs of muzzle energy(4). The reason I mention this is Rabbits take an impact energy of 5 ft-lbs for clean kills.(5) The Recon might (stress the might part) be able to kill a rabbit at very close range, but it just won’t deliver the power you need to consistently kill rabbits humanely. Its more of a target/plinking gun than a hunting gun. For hunting rabbits, you’d be better off with something like the Crosman 2100, Daisy 22SG, Gamo Big Cat, Gamo Carbine Sport, Crosman Phantom, or Crosman 2260 since all of those should be able to give you at least 5 ft-lbs of impact energy out to 20 yards. If you really want a good hunting gun (and aren’t adverse to the price) you might even take a look at the Benjamin Discovery or RWS 34.
