I’m restoring a 1891 Mauser Argentine. what products should i use?

Question by : I’m restoring a 1891 Mauser Argentine. what products should i use?
i have an 1891 Mauser Argentine that is a little rusty and has some bluing/finish issues. im going to re-stain the stock and re blue the barrel and other parts back to how they should be. im thinking birchwood casey’s cleaner/degreaser and then using their blue/black finish to finish it. does that sound like good or am i missing something? this will be my first restoration job, and any tips/suggestions are always welcome. thanks.

The Birchwood degreaser great stuff for your task, now the blue/black finish does not match with what was used in 1891. So you will not be restoring as much as redoing the Mauser, To restore you have to return it to what it looked like in 1891. These guns are good shooters and great on deer game; the Mauser action who in their right mind could fine fault with that. I hope you intend to hunt with it when you are done with it.
