Remington Taps Brian Marvin to Lead Global LE/Military Team, Also Announces New Washington, D.C. Military Affairs Office
Madison, NC (PRWEB) June 25, 2008
Remington Arms Company, Inc., announced today that Brian Marvin, former President of Heckler & Koch (H&K) USA Defense, has accepted the newly-created position of Senior Vice President – US and International Military and Law Enforcement Markets. In his role at Remington, Marvin will oversee all Sales, Marketing and Customer Support of Domestic and International Law Enforcement and Military products and services.
In announcing Marvin’s addition to the management team, Scott Blackwell, Remington’s President – Global Sales, Marketing and Product Development commented, “The ability for us to acquire someone of Brian’s capabilities as a leader, with his knowledge of both the US and International Military and Law Enforcement markets, was a slam dunk.” Blackwell continued, “As we look to further grow Remington and our sister companies’ presence globally in Law Enforcement and Military markets and to further develop solutions that provide enhanced value to US soldiers, law enforcement officers and allies world wide, having someone with Brian’s background in small arms will help us greatly to penetrate new markets.”
Marvin, while serving as President of H&K’s US Defense group, was responsible for sales, marketing and distribution of products for the military, law enforcement and commercial markets. His other duties included global sales and marketing where he helped develop strategies and tactics to position the company in new international markets.
Following Blackwell’s statements, Marvin commented on his new role, “It is an honor to join a company with the rich heritage and historic impact that Remington has attained.” Continuing, Marvin said, “With the strong commitment and focused efforts of the highly-motivated Military, LE and DoD management teams already in place, we can provide our frontline fighters with ‘best-in-class’ firearms and ammunition products.”
In addition to Marvin’s hire, Remington announced the opening of its new Military Affairs Office based in Arlington, Virginia, which will serve as the headquarters for Remington’s Department of Defense (DoD) focused activities and efforts.
Blackwell commented, as well, on the opening of a centralized military-focused office, “As we continue to develop our vision to become more proactive within the Military markets, the need for a daily presence in our nation’s Capital became apparent. Having this office will allow us to be better prepared to respond to our various customers needs as well as provide timely support and information to our nation’s leaders in the area of small arms and ammunition.”

Remington Arms Company, Inc. Awarded US Army TACOM FMS Contract for M24 Sniper Weapons Systems
Remington Arms Company, Inc. Awarded US Army TACOM FMS Contract for M24 Sniper Weapons Systems
Madison, NC (PRWEB) July 26, 2008
Remington Arms Company, Inc. announced today that it has recently been awarded a $ 12 million contract from the US Army-TACOM (Tank-Automotive and Armament Command), for the purchase of M24 Sniper Weapon Systems (SWS) for use by the US and multiple allies in the Global War on Terrorism. 2008 marks the 20th anniversary that the M24 SWS and its variants has been the “standard” issue sniper rifle for the US Army and US Air Force.
Based on the venerable Model 700 bolt action platform, like the USMC M40, the M24 SWS provides exceptional accuracy, reliability and durability. The M24 SWS is considered the “standard” by which other sniper weapon systems are judged. It provides extreme accuracy out to 800 meters and can engage targets well beyond that distance, as well as low maintenance starting at approximately 10,000 rds. at the operator level.
“Remington welcomes the continued relationship with our nation’s military, and the opportunities to further develop and provide the solutions needed by our combat forces. We are tremendously proud to supply them with weaponry such as the M24, that meets and exceeds their combat needs to win the Global War on Terrorism,” said Brian Marvin – SR Vice President, Military, Law Enforcement and International.
This contract award marks a collaborative effort by the US TACOM and Remington Arms Company to provide the very best for US partners in support of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, which supports our allies worldwide. The Model M24 SWS was designed to meet or exceed all current and anticipated mission profiles encountered and conducted by snipers in training and combat. Due to its superb reputation, the M24 SWS has been procured by a significant number of US Allies, US Law Enforcement Agencies, as well as numerous other US DOD & government agencies.

what is the difference between a crosman optimus and remington vantage 1200?
Question by Cory: what is the difference between a crosman optimus and remington vantage 1200?
ive been lookin to get a remington vantage but i found the crosman optimus in a catalog and it appears to be very similar, so i’s wondering what’s the difference? and which one would be best for small game hunting?
Best answer:
Answer by J Kirsch
Honestly there’s not much difference between the two. They’re both cheap, Chinese-made, spring-piston airguns. They’re both designed and sold by Crosman. The Optimus is Crosman’s new budget springer that they’re intending to replace the Storm/Quest. The Vantage is a slightly higher grade variant of the Storm/Quest. The biggest single difference I can see is that based on Tom Gaylord’s chronograph tests the Optimus will legitimately deliver about 15-16 ft-lbs of muzzle energy while the Remington Vantage is more likely going to put out about 13-14 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The next biggest difference is that the Vantage is almost certainly going to have a lighter cocking force. But the differences aren’t really going to be that noticeable. Especially if you’re hunting small game animals.
As for which is better for small game hunting… Honestly I don’t think it matters much. Both guns have enough power for tree squirrels, rabbits, and small nuisance animals. Neither has enough power to humanely hunt larger animals like raccoon, opossum, or nutria. Since that’s the case I’d suggest you handle both (if possible) and pick the one you prefer.
Give your answer to this question below!
